Henrietta’s Heritage House

Hamlin Bed And Breakfast

The historic Henrietta’s Heritage House was built in 1909 as a grand Antebellum-styled family home, rich in history and character, style and architecture, with an underlying elegance that is timeless.
The current owner’s great grandmother, Henrietta Carpenter Moore, built the treasured house, where she lived along with her family. It has been one of the oldest and most beloved homes in Hamlin, and it is now Hamlin’s newest and most upscale bed and breakfast, chic and innovative — a six room, boutique hotel alternative for the discerning traveler. (R. D. Moore, Henrietta’s husband, donated the land where the City of Hamlin stands today. You can read more about the house’s rich history here.)
The family roots behind the property stretch all the way to today. Henrietta’s great grand-daughter, Patrice Moore Griggs, is the current owner of the home. Julie Moore, wife of David Moore, Patrice’s twin brother, has always had an interest in historic homes and renovation. Julie completely restored Henrietta’s home with artistic flare and loving touches. Julie has designed a fresh, traditional home ready to enjoy.
Julie is managing the day to day operations of the house. Patrice lives and works in Austin, but escapes to Hamlin as much as possible.
If there is a trend in modern travel, it’s a push towards properties that offer more than just basic luxury comforts for the guests. More and more people are searching for a more all-encompassing experience – blending in architecture, interior design, and luxury touches, right down to the exact detail – an underlying “story” that makes their stay all that much more unique. They want to feel almost like the experience was crafted just for them.
Henrietta’s Heritage House Bed and Breakfast, while revering the architectural history of the house, is a post-modern accommodation that addresses the needs, desires and personality of today’s traveler.
Our property and business has been designed to respect the comfort and privacy of our guests. Although you are staying in a semi-public accommodation, you will feel like you are our honored house guest.
While other guests will be staying in the property, you will feel no obligation to socialize with strangers—unless you want to. You will have your own quarters with ensuite bathroom in three of the bedrooms. Breakfast is served in the formal dining room, with a fireplace, fine china, and crystal chandelier, or you may choose to dine at a private table outside in the gardens or porch. It all depends on your preference. Making new friends can be a very fun experience, but we recognize that it’s not for everyone, and that everyone is unique and special!
In addition to your private room, you have various choices in public spaces for visiting with co-travelers, friends or just exploring. Indoors, these choices include an elegant formal entry with a baby grand piano and fireplace, or the cattleman’s parlor, with comfy seating in front of the fireplace.
Outside there are multiple places to sneak away and relax with a good book, or just enjoy nature, including the front wrap-around porch overlooking the front yard (a signature feature of the Antebellum, Southern-style U.S. homes), the upstairs covered veranda, or the Corsicana brick arbor terrace and gardens accessed just out the back door.

Etta’s Deluxe King Suite

Etta’s suite is perfect for a romantic getaway. This room features a beautifully carved king-sized headboard. The luxurious king-sized bed is flanked by a marble and granite fireplace.

Jeanette’s King/Full Suite

This suite is a fit for royalty. This is our largest upstairs room. This comfortable room has great colors and a richness of wood and leather. The bed is just outstanding!

Bernice’s King Size Retreat

It’s one of the most cheerful rooms in the house! It is affectionately known to us as the “dog room”. The room features large windows on the north side of the house with beautiful draperies in a whimsical dog print.

Tennie’s Queen Quarters

This beautiful room features a spacious floor plan with a queen iron headboard and footboard and nice sitting area. Of course, the premium mattress is thick, plush and comfortable, and the bed linens are Egyptian high-thread-count cotton

Evalee’s Full Room

The soft watermelon pink and gold palette is very relaxing and offers plenty of tranquility. Evalee’s room is beautiful. It is one of our smaller suites, but still offers much in the way of comfort, along with plenty of style.

Main House

The house has six guest rooms: three King suites, one Queen bed plus a Queen sized sofa bed, and two rooms with full beds. Two of the rooms have private baths. The baths have subway tiled showers, trimmed in Carrera Marble, polished nickel, period-appropriate faucets and Carrera Marble Vanities. The downstairs bathroom is equipped with a Jacuzzi tub as well as a shower. The shared bathroom, depending on occupancy, has an original claw-footed soaking tub fitted with hand-held faucets for showering.

At the Henrietta Heritage House, we have private, off street parking. Each guest room is allotted one parking space. If you need additional parking space, please make prior arrangements when you book your room.

The backyard Terrace and Gardens, constructed of historic Corsicana Brick, is located on the west side of the house and is furnished with outdoor tables and chairs. In addition to being available for our guests’ use, it is a uniquely beautiful place for small weddings, rehearsal dinners and parties. How about a party on the porch? The grounds are landscaped in antique, iceberg climbing roses, knockout roses, wedding dress rose ground cover, and beautiful crepe myrtles. Outdoor lighting including cafe lights, creating a great ambiance for roasting marshmallows in the fire pit.
